spiral classifier
In the ore dressing plant, the spiral classifier is used for the classifier working together with ore grinding machines to form a closed circuit, which requires use of lifting and transporting mechanism for settling sand. Such kind of classifier is also known as mechanical classifier. Actually, the process of grading is still realized by different settling velocity of particles. In addition to pre-grading and inspection grading as assistant equipment for ore grinding, mechanical classifier is sometime used for washing of ore with clay and desliming and dehydration of slurry. The mechanical classifier could be further divided into spiral classifier, plough classifier, floating chute classifier and so forth by different forms of settling sand transporting machinery. Among them, the spiral classifier is simple in construction and easy to operate and its grading chute has large inclination angle to facilitate automatic flow connection with ore grinding machine, which is thus widely applied. The spiral classifier could be also divided into high weir type and immersed type (or submerged type) by the height of liquid level. Overflow weir of high weir classifier is higher than center of the spiral shaft at the bottom end and lower than upper flange of the spiral blade. Its grading liquid level is not long so that the liquid level could directly feel stirring action of spiral blade, which is applicable to coarse grading with grading size mostly over 0.15mm. For the immersed classifier, its spiral blade at the bottom end is fully immersed under the liquid level with large grading area and stable operation, which is applicable to grading of fine particles with grading size lower than 0.15mm and features large overflow productivity. In addition, there is also a kind of low weir spiral classifier with grading liquid level lower than the spiral bearing at the lower end, which has small liquid level and large stirring action and is mainly used for washing of ores with sandstones.
